Okay, what are they doing in the video? Are they saying hello? Or are they singing together? Do you know how to call this kind of musical performance? Singing together. In Chinese, we call it “合唱”, but what's the English word for it? Quiet, please. Cool. We say “chorus”. Okay, everybody say “chorus”. Now, do you have the experience of being a member of a choir? Yes or no? Okay, she does. You have the experience of being a member of a choir. Are you happy? Yes.

So here, actually, this is a very famous choir. It's a choir made up of children named “1 Voice”. From their happy smiles, we can tell they're happy to be singers. What's their feeling of being a member of this choir? They're happy to be together.

They are singers from different schools and countries. When they are singing together, do they seem strange to each other or familiar with each other? Familiar with, yeah. What do they love? Singing or music. Okay, so they share the same interest in music. Well done.

Because of their great passion for music, they have released lots of famous songs like “Diamonds”, “Fliber”, as well as “See You Again”. Have you ever heard these songs? Yes. They're worth listening to. Next time if you have a chance, listen to them again.

However, during the pandemic, everyone was locked at home. Was it still possible for them to have face - to - face contact and sing together as a choir? No, because they had to stay home. They couldn't see each other. But did they break up? Did they stop singing? Oh, no. Because they have a strong passion for singing, they turned to a new way of singing.

Let everything on me. Alright, go on, raise your voice and say, hey, here's the what. So we got cheers. I wish for you to love us. A dream echoes memories of everything we've been. Really we can love to the ones every day you want us to be lost on the way. Memories bring back other memories and the... Memories bring back you.

So where do they sing this time? Online. And where are they besides singing online? At home. They're staying at home with the help of... Well done. So they're still members of a choir, but this time the form has changed from a real one to an online - made one.

Do you know how to call this kind of choir? “Virtual choir”. Well done. Is this word familiar to all of you? Maybe not. It's a new and difficult word, but I'm sure you're familiar with this word, “VR”. In Chinese, it's “虚拟”. Here “V” stands for “virtual”. So what do we call a “virtual choir” in Chinese? Are you familiar with such a form of choir? No. Neither am I.

When we want to learn something new today, we will explore this new form of choir named the Virtual Choir. Please have a look at the reading material you've just been given. When we learn something new, we may wonder about lots of things related to it. What do you want to learn about this thing?

  生:Where do they sing together?

师:Take your seat. How about you?

  生:How do they sing?

  师:Well done. How about you?

生:Why do they sing at home? Why can they still sing at home in this way?

  师:Right. How about you?

生:It's a new thing. Maybe I wonder how they can sing and with what help they can sing.

师:But are you curious about the people? Who are they or about the person who... Yes, well done. Who organized this choir? Or we say the person who started this form of choir. We can call this person the arranger, the organizer, or the creator. Well done. You're very curious about new things. What, how, who, where, when, and why. According to this kind of content, can you tell me the style of the passage? Is it a narration, an argumentation, or an exposition?

  生:Exposition.

师:Yes. Well done. So today we will learn more about it. Now you have two minutes to skim the whole passage, which contains four paragraphs. Then, in three minutes, match the main idea with each paragraph. Are you clear?

  生:Yes.

师:1, 2, go. If you have any trouble, you can raise your hand.

  (两分钟后)

师:Okay, time is up. Have you finished skimming the whole passage?

  生:Yes.

师:Now I'd like to invite this girl to find out the main idea of each paragraph. What's the first paragraph's main idea?

生:It talks about how a virtual choir works, the process.

  师:Okay, how about No. 2?

  生:It talks about the creator.

  师:And the third paragraph?

师:While the last one deals with... Well done. Thank you. Do you agree with her?

  生:Yes.

师:So now let's follow this structure to find out each aspect of the choir one by one. Firstly, read the first paragraph to find out how a virtual choir works. For example, who can join this kind of choir, where do they sing, and what equipment do they need? In a traditional choir, we usually have a teacher who teaches you how to sing. What do we call this kind of teacher?

  生:A leader or the conductor?

师:Conductor. Do they also need a conductor in a virtual choir? Or do they also need a piano or something like that? These are the equipment questions. How about the making process? Are you clear what we are going to do?

  生:Yes.

师:Then two minutes, go. You can underline the possible sentences.

  (两分钟后)

师:Okay, time is up. Now I'd like to invite this girl to answer the question. Who can be the members of the virtual choir?

生:Anyone can take part in it.

师:It seems that you and I can also take part in a virtual choir. Do you like singing? Yeah, so maybe you can have a try. Where do they sing?

  生:Anywhere, like at home.

师:Okay. And equipment, what do they need?
