  师:Correct. And which word is the clue for this blank?

  师:Yes, "windows". You say that you love the wind, but when the wind comes and blows, will you open or close the windows?

  师:Right. Here, we have the logical word "but", so we choose "close" for this blank. For the third blank, what's the clue word?

  生:That.

  师:Yes. Based on the logical relation in the sentence, which is a causal relation, we can make our choice. By using these strategies, we can find clues in the context and infer the correct words. Now, it's your turn. You should analyze and find the clues in the following contexts, and then infer the answers.

  Let's look at the first example. Can you find the clue word and infer the answer? First, read it and then try to discover. "I would ____ minimum wage." Can you find the clue word?

  生:As a queen for you.

  师:Pay attention to the word "er". From this, we can infer the correct answer is "earn". They are related words.

  Let's move on to the second one. Can you find the clue in this sentence?

  生:Unfinished.

  师:Right. So we can infer the answer. Good job.

  Now, the third one. Which word is the clue?

  生:Wrong.

  师:Yes. After the students' wrong guesses, the professor announced the ____ answer.

  生:Correct answer.

  师:These two words have opposite meanings. Just now, for these three questions, we used a strategy called lexical repetition. Sometimes, the words in the context are the same; sometimes, they have similar or opposite meanings.

  Next, there are another five questions for you. I'll give each group five pieces of paper. After reading the sentences, circle the logical word or logical punctuation in the sentence. Use that logical element to infer the answers, and write down what kind of logical relation it shows. Got it?

  This time, I'll give each group twelve pieces of paper. Use the colorful pens to write down your answers. Write the answers directly on the words, not just A, B, or C. Circle the clue words, write down the answers, and then note the logical relation in Chinese.
